2027 TE Hanshaw impressed with atmosphere at West Virginia camp

American Fork (Ut.) 2027 tight end Christian Hanshaw visited West Virginia for the first camp of the summer and now both parties are on each other’s radars moving forward.

Hanshaw, 6-foot-5, 230-pounds, was impressed with the area as well as the coaching staff with how they handled the one-day camp.

“The coaches energy and passion stood out the most. The relationships are great, and it was nice to meet everyone and spend the time with them as well as compete and learn from them,” he said.

Hanshaw received positive feedback from his performance and spent time getting to know both tight ends coach Michael Nysewander as well as senior offensive assistant Travis Trickett.

The Mountaineers like what he brings to the table at the tight end spot and made it clear that he would be a fit for what they want to do at the position.

“They said they love my size, speed, athleticism and ability to move with my large frame as a multi-sport athlete,” he said.

It also didn’t hurt matters that he measured in at 6-foot-5.

Overall, Hanshaw really enjoyed getting to work in the camp environment with the coaches and head coach Rich Rodriguez really stood out to him as a great leader that puts his team first.

When it comes to the facilities Hanshaw also was impressed.

“They have super nice facilities overall and really enjoyed visiting around the camp to see the campus and area in addition to the facilities,” he said.

Hanshaw said that he plans to get back out to Morgantown at some point in the future and also camped at Michigan this past week. He also plans to check out other schools like Alabama, Auburn, BYU, Arizona State, Utah and Northwestern at some point this summer.

“Definitely see myself getting back out there,” he said.
