Asian Stocks Waver After China Central Bank Holds Interest Rates

Asian stocks struggled for direction in a choppy trading session on Monday, as China's central bank opted to hold interest rates at their current level with policymakers waiting to see if the trade war between Beijing and Washington escalates.

The CSI 300 gauge of mainland Chinese stocks closed 0.3% higher. India's Nifty 50 and South Korea's Kospi also finished the day in the green, but Japan's Nikkei 225 fell 1.3%.

Stock exchanges in Sydney and Hong Kong were closed for Easter Monday.
