, /PRNewswire/ -- BAYADA Home Health Care—a nonprofit organization and one of the nation's largest providers of home health, personal home care, private duty nursing and hospice services—is urging federal lawmakers to consider the cost-savings potential of home health care as they work to reduce federal expenditures.

BAYADA remains dedicated to ensuring access to compassionate and reliable home health care services for the vulnerable who need it most. In light of recent federal developments, such as the passage of the House Budget Bill and the reconciliation framework directing the House Energy and Commerce Committee to identify $880 billion in reductions to programs under its jurisdiction, BAYADA emphasizes the role of home health care services in lowering overall health care costs. These services enable individuals to remain in their homes, avoiding more expensive long-term care options like skilled nursing facilities.

BAYADA joins the home health care industry at-large in expressing gratitude for lawmakers' recent reaffirmations that they will not pursue changes to Medicaid that include caps on federal funding or changes to the state matching formulas. BAYADA urges Congress to consider home health care as a high-value, cost-effective alternative to institutional long-term care, particularly in any efforts to reform Medicaid.

"BAYADA employs 34,000 professional caregivers and serves more than 170,000 medically fragile individuals, allowing them to remain safe and healthy in the patient-preferred, cost-effective setting: their own homes," says BAYADA CEO David Baiada. "Cuts to home care services would put these individuals at risk of seeking care in far more expensive settings like hospitals and nursing homes. This presents an opportunity for the federal government to realize the significant cost-savings potential of home care and prioritize these services for our country's most vulnerable populations."

As Congress seeks ways to reduce federal spending, BAYADA recommends advancing care models that provide cost-effective care without limiting access to essential services. BAYADA welcomes the opportunity to serve as a resource for members of Congress and the Administration on matters related to home health care, long-term care, and Medicaid funding.
