Not all of the usual suspects ran races during the 17th Crosstown track and field dual, held Tuesday at Legends Stadium.
Flathead’s William Hollensteiner stayed off the track and in the pits, where he swept the high jump and long jump. The Bravettes’ Alivia Rinehart never got in the blocks; Glacier’s Ethan Anderson sat out the 300-meter hurdles.
But Flathead’s Ben Bliven? He booked.
The senior swept the 100 and 200, winning the latter in 22.38 seconds — breaking his year-old meet record of 22.44. He also ran anchor on the Braves’ long relay that broke its year-old meet mark with a time of 3:26.64.
Glacier cruised to a sweep of the meet, with Dylan Smith taking the discus and shot put on the boys side, and the Wolfpack’s Breanna Barnes setting the pole vault mark for the girls.
The Pack’s Carmen Eddy got close to a couple other records while sweeping all three girls sprints.
Conditions were fair, if breezy across the straightaways. The meet wasn’t as quick as 2024, when eight boys records were set (including two each by Bliven and Anderson). Glacier won the boys dual 71.5-55.5 and doubled up the Bravettes 81.5-40.5.
Bliven’s 100 time of 11.21 was above his meet record of 11.06, and well above his PR of 10.86 set at the Kalispell time trials.
Anderson won the 110-meter hurdles in 15.09 Tuesday; he ran 14.84 at last year’s Crosstown.
Flathead’s long relay — Cameron Wells, Lane Chivers, Kasen Kastner and Bliven — busted the old record by over a second.
Kastner won the 1,600 Tuesday as well. Flathead’s Tim Zundel won the triple jump.
Glacier had wins from Liam Palmer (300 hurdles), Vaughn Ronakov (javelin) and Shae Warner (400), and tons of depth besides.
Cole Opre and Flathead’s Creed Wiley both cleared 13 feet in the pole vault: Opre won on criteria while Wiley hit his PR.
The last event to come in provided the lone girls’ record — the pole vault, where Barnes cleared 10 feet. Her best is 10-6; she still broke the meet record by three inches.
Eddy had a banner day and her times in the 200 (26.41) and 400 (60.16) weren’t far off the meet records of 26.17 and 59.75. Her 400 time sits No. 4 in Class AA, and she won the 100 in 13.43 as well.
Teammate Lauren Bissen won the 800 and 3,200; the Pack also had victories from Emmery Schmidt (300 hurdles), Rylee Bigelow (discus), Charlotte Osler (javelin), Allie Krueger (shot put) and Jaidyn Pevey (high jump).
