Cardinals Reveal Major Pitching Milestone on Friday After 10-0 Win

The St. Louis Cardinals continue to be one of the hottest teams in the big leagues, as they stretched their win streak to six games following a 10-0 crushing of the Washington Nationals on Friday night. The Cards' latest victory can be largely credited to the scintillating performance on the mound by veteran right-hander Erick Fedde.

The 32-year-old Fedde blanked the Nationals for nine innings, giving up just six hits and zero walks while recording a total of eight punchouts through 109 pitches. It was also his first career complete game, as shared by the Cardinals via their official X account.

“Erick Fedde's 1st career complete game is a shutout!” the Cardinals wrote in the social media post that acknowledges his tremendous work in the series-opening win over Washington.

Fedde, who is in his second season with the Cardinals, enjoyed ample run support as well versus Washington.

First baseman Willson Contreras put St. Louis on the board first with a two-run RBI double in the first inning, setting the tone at the plate for the Cardinals, who went 5-for-17 when runners were in scoring position.

Also coming up with a stellar performance for St. Louis was Nolan Arena, as the star third baseman went 3-for-5 with a run scored.

After his memorable start, Fedde lowered his 2025 ERA from 4.78 to just 3.86 while improving his record to 3-3 through eight starts.

As a team, the Cardinals are back to above .500 for the first time since going 4-3 to start the season. The 20-19 Cards will look to sustain their form when they take on Washington on Saturday for the second leg of this three-game series at Nationals Park in Washington.
