After pitching a complete-game, one-hit shutout against No. 3 UT-Tyler on Saturday , UTPB freshman right-handed pitcher Timmy LaChappa was named the Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week.
LaChappa tossed a one-hit shutout to beat nationally-ranked UT Tyler in a 1-0 ballgame. LaChappa struck out three batters and allowed just a fourth-inning single in his seven-inning gem. He retired the final 10 batters to become the first pitcher to shut out the Patriots this season. It was just the fourth one-hitter in program history and first since 2017. On the week, LaChappa hurled nine shutout innings as he had two perfect innings with three strikeouts in a non-conference midweek game against Sul Ross State.
Next up, LaChappa and the rest of the Falcons will travel to Alpine, Texas, to battle Sul Ross State University this weekend (Apr. 4-6).
