POLSON — Having clinched the Northwest A conference on Friday, the Columbia Falls Wildcats wrapped up their regular season with a 9-4 win over the Polson Pirates in high school baseball Monday.
After being down 3-1 through three innings, the Wildcats (15-1), scored five runs in the fourth inning and added four in the third to take a 9-3 lead. Jett Pitts led the team on offense as he collected three hits, three RBIs and scored once, including a 2-run double in their big fourth inning.
Nico Young earned the win for Columbia Falls, going 5 1-3 innings with four earned runs and striking out seven. Reggie Sapa came in relief and pitched the final 1 2-3 frames, striking out three and not allowing a hit. Sapa added two hits, a run scored and an RBI at the plate.
Landon Shoemake went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Polson (12-5). Holden Emerson added two hits and scored twice. Wyatt Wadsworth started for the Pirates, giving up four runs; two of them earned and striking out five across 3 1-3 innings.
