Progress, Accomplishment, Thriving, Hope (PATH) scholarships address financial stressors affecting student mental health, retention and academic performance
, /PRNewswire/ -- The Ellucian Foundation, established in 2020 by Ellucian, the leading higher education technology solutions provider, today announced the institutions selected to receive 2024 Progress, Accomplishment, Thriving, Hope (PATH) Scholarships. The PATH Scholarship provides grants to higher education institutions globally to directly benefit students facing economic hardships and educational disruptions.
"The PATH Scholarship is a cornerstone of Ellucian's commitment to student success and equity and we are pleased to present 47 colleges and universities with grants this year," said Laura Ipsen, President & CEO, Ellucian. "Recent data from our Student Voice Report shows that 59% of students considered dropping out due to financial stress, with many reporting impacts on mental health and academic performance. The PATH Scholarship program aims to lighten these pressures so that financial constraints are not a barrier to completing education."
The PATH Scholarship awards block grants of $10,000, $15,000 and $25,000 (USD) to higher education institutions to help students cover items such as housing, tuition and food. Individual students receive a maximum award of $1,500 (USD) with limited exceptions.
"The Ellucian Foundation's support will provide students at risk for dropping out due to financial distress with funding to enable them to persist in pursuing their degrees," said Kimberly B. Gentry, Associate Vice Chancellor, Corporate and Foundation Relations, University of Massachusetts Boston. "By targeting a critical need that can derail the plans of our first-generation, low-income undergraduates, the PATH Scholarship advances our university's top strategic priority, student success."
"The Ellucian Foundation supports equitable educational opportunities for all students, regardless of socioeconomic background, across the globe," said Jennifer Welding, Executive Director of the Ellucian Foundation. "We are thrilled to continue our support for student success and well-being through the PATH Scholarship program, delivering lasting impact on the lives of students."
Kirsten Weeks, Senior Director, Strategic Operations and ESG at Ellucian and Board Member for the Ellucian Foundation added: "Financial barriers should never stand in the way of student success. The PATH Scholarship is a vital resource that empowers institutions to provide direct support to students facing economic hardship. By alleviating financial stress, we're helping students stay on track to achieve their academic and career goals."
