Fan's Call for Tuchel's Dismissal After England Struggle to Break Down Lowly Andorra

England are one of the favorites to win the 2026 World Cup. But in their qualifying game today against Andorra - ranked 173rd in the world - it took them until the 50th minute to score a goal. That proved to be the only goal of a poor game.

England had 81% of the possession but they failed to create many clear cut chances and for much of the game looked insipid and clueless against a team who have won just one of their last 25 matches.

Does Tuchel Have a Plan?

Manager Thomas Tuchal has only been in charge for three matches, but already England fans are getting worried. "Has Thomas Tuchel taken England as far as he can?" joked The Guardian in their live reporting.

Behind the joke is a grain of truth. England have been uninspiring in Tuchel's other matches against Albania and Latvia. Fans have been baffled by some of the squad selections - notably the decision to bring back an aging Jordan Henderson, which has been widely mocked on social media.

Kane scores but criticism continues

The team selection today led to a chorus of "Sack Tuchel" Tweets. The inclusion of midfielder Curtis Jones at right back baffled fans while others think it's time for Harry Kane to be replaced.

Though it was Kane who broke the deadlock against Andorra with a tap-in, the consensus is that his legs are not what they used to be with one saying "As a nation, we've moved beyond the need for Harry Kane".

The FA's Gamble on Tuchel

Despite his obvious pedigree at club level, Tuchel wasn't a popular choice to be England manager. Many are simply unable to come to terms with a German managing the national team.

His appointment was a huge gamble by the FA, a roll of the dice with the singular goal of winning the World Cup. Performances like today don't help and it's a worrying sign that fans and the media are turning on him so quickly.

When Gareth Southgate stepped down, Under 21 Manager Lee Carley took over temporarily. During that time senior players noted the positive effect Carsley had. Jude Bellingham said, "he got my smile back in an England shirt".

Nobody in an England shirt seemed to be doing much smiling today.
