Defence ministry Thursday inked contracts worth Rs 2,500 crore for
Nag anti-tank missile
(Namis) tracked platforms and 5,000 light vehicles for the armed forces.
The Namis deal was inked with state-owned
Armoured Vehicle Nigam Ltd
and light vehicles one with
Force Motors
and Mahindra & Mahindra in the presence of defence secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh. “The total cost of the contract for the procurement of the Namis (tracked) weapon system, developed by DRDO, is Rs 1,801 crore. It marks a significant milestone in the modernisation of the anti-tank capability of the Army’s mechanised infantry, enhancing its operational readiness across a varied spectrum of operations,” an official said.
