The chances that the U.S. is heading for a recession are about 43%, according to a Deutsche Bank survey. Whether you’re concerned about job security, investments or just making ends meet, finding ways to keep your income steady is key.

That’s why GOBankingRates spoke with finance experts Edward Piazza, president of Titan Funding; Angelo Crocco, CPA, CGMA and owner of AC Accounting, and Ali Zane, credit repair expert and CEO of Imax Credit, to discuss ways to mitigate the risks.

“In times of economic uncertainty, ensuring a broad range of income sources can reduce risk,” Piazza said. “Diversification is crucial as it spreads risk across different investments, providing a buffer against downturns in specific markets.”

He said this balance helps keep income steady even when the economy is unstable. Below are some simple strategies that can help you stay financially stable, even if things get rocky.

The economy in 2025 is primed for volatility. The most brilliant move is to build resilient income streams, and real estate arbitrage is a severely underutilized strategy.

According to Crocco, many assume you need to buy property to make money in real estate, but that’s a myth.

“Master leasing, where you rent properties and sublease them as mid-term or short-term rentals, lets you control assets without ownership.”

In downturns, he explained homeowners seek stability, while travelers and remote workers still need housing.

The key is finding undervalued long-term rentals, securing favorable lease terms and monetizing them at higher daily or weekly rates.

This method creates predictable, diversified income without the capital-intensive burden of ownership.

The AI arms race isn’t just about automation but data dominance. Zane said AI-backed real estate investing makes predicting rental market shifts and detecting undervalued properties easier.

Investors using traditional analysis will lag behind those who integrate predictive analytics.

“The next wave of wealth creation isn’t in guessing, it’s in knowing. AI tools can now forecast which neighborhoods will see the highest appreciation based on migration trends, zoning changes and even sentiment analysis from social media.”
