Like many of you, I vowed to exercise more when the calendar turned to 2025. I signed up for a half-marathon race (and completed it!) and joined the pilates studio on my block. I had previously run a few races, so I had a lot of high-compression running tights. But once I started taking pilates two to four times per week, I realized I needed some new gear — specifically leggings that were soft, comfortable and offered plenty of stretch. I turned to Lululemon's trusty Align leggings, a favorite with several of my fellow shopping editors. (Yahoo Editor-in-Chief Laura Kenney calls them "magic" and Senior Style Writer Rebecca Carhart says they're "the softest leggings I've ever put on.")
The iconic pants are celebrating a 10-year anniversary in 2025, and what better way to mark the occasion than with an upgraded design? The Align No Line High-Rise Pant is here and features a seamless front design. Of course, I had to try them!
Lululemon's famous leggings just got a simple upgrade — there's no seam down the front and center. While it's a small change, it does make the leggings look smoother and more flattering overall.
Pros
- No seam down the center
- Comfortable, stretchy Nulu fabric
- Comes in six colors, mostly neutrals
Cons
- Only two inseam lengths available
- $10 more than the original leggings
With this launch, fans can expect the same Align features that they've come to know and love: a soft, lightweight and breathable fabric that offers sweat-wicking and four-way stretch. As a bonus, the Align No Line High-Rise Pant removes the front, center seam for an ultra-smooth look and feel. It's a simple change, but it really does make your overall outfit look more streamlined. I'd even go as far as to say that it makes the leggings look more expensive (which they are — by $10). These also include the familiar elastic-free, folded waistband and hidden pocket
The buttery soft material is a fabric is called Nulu, and it was specifically designed by Lululemon for the Align leggings. It was originally inspired by the softness of a rose petal (yes, for real) and it took the brand 18 months to develop. Today, Nulu is the fabric used in all of Lululemon's Align products, from leggings to sports bras.
Available in 25- and 28-inch lengths, they are machine-washable and come in six colors, including black, plum, gray and "pool party" blue. I chose the plain black because I'm a staunch believer that you can never have enough black leggings (amirite?).
Trust me: You'll never want to take these babies off. (Lululemon)
I wore the leggings for six hours, starting with a pilates class. With every move, I felt supported, yet like I was wearing nothing (which is kind of the point of these). Also, I can confirm that they're not see-through. Next, I wore them to walk my dog after class through the park. They were still comfy — no itching, no weird pulling or rubbing. Then, I wore them for the rest of the morning while I worked from home. They were so soft that I didn't want to take them off!
One thing I should mention is that these leggings are for low-impact exercises like yoga, pilates or casually picking up groceries. They're not made for running or strength training with gym equipment — Lululemon has more compressive leggings for that.
While the difference between the original Align leggings and Align No Line leggings is small, it's meaningful. I will definitely be purchasing more of the newer, Align No Line style in the future. I just like how smooth they look! It's a teeny, tiny change and I tend to revel in the little details.
