India to showcase best practices for waste management during Mahakumbh at circular economy meet in Jaipur

waste management

adopted during the Mahakumbh at the ‘Regional 3R and

Circular Economy

Forum in Asia and the Pacific’ to be held in Jaipur next week, housing and urban affairs minister Manohar Lal Khattar said Monday.
Officials said the findings of Stanford University will be presented at the meeting which will see participation of 25 other countries as well.
“We will definitely showcase the best practice of waste management at the Mahakumbh before the world,” the minister said in response to a question while addressing media persons, on the regional event. The Mahakumbh is the world’s largest event and people have praised the waste management plan being implemented there, he added.
Khattar said the religious congregation is being held in an area spread over 4,000 hectares, which is large enough to accommodate a city. As many as 25,000 people have been deployed at the Mahakumbh for waste management, he added.

The 45-day religious congregation at Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh on January 13 and culminates on February 26. Over 60 crore people have taken a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam since it started, according to authorities.
On the regional conference, Khattar said the participants will discuss the matters revolving around “waste to wealth” to boost circular economy. This is the second time India will host the conference.
