Jermall Charlo’s Focus Shifts To Next Battle After Impressive Win

Jermall discloses the next fighter he would wish to clash with

Charlo hasn’t fought for 18 months since his last fight against Jose Benavidez in 2023. He stepped back to the ring with a bang.

A few weeks ago, he opened up about the struggles that he was going through. Due to the issues that surrounded him, he took a break from the sport he loves most. The 35-year-old was still ambitious about boxing, and he returned to the ring with a victory via stoppage against Thomas LaManna in the 6th round.

“I look at the steps that I’m taking at this moment. I’m not overlooking anybody in the division; to be honest with you, at this moment I think the best move for my career… I’m 35, you know? Time is wasting…you know? Whatever you all want to call it, I’m still having fun in the sport. I still have a lot more fights to go.

I think that I should keep fighting, and hopefully, I can get the Canelo fight. Wouldn’t you all want to see that? I’d rather fight Canelo than plant,” said Jermall Charlo on X. He almost fell into depression, but Jermall collected himself together, and his efforts and determination have paid off.

He has held world championships in two weight classes, including the IBF light middleweight title from 2015 to 2017 and the WBC middleweight title from 2019 to 2024. His twin brother is also a professional boxer who has held the undisputed light middleweight world championship. “After ending his 18-month hiatus from the ring with a stoppage victory last night, who would you like to Jermall Charlo fight next?” said the Ring Magazine on X. All ears have it, probably the boxing promoting companies will organize and make that fight happen between Alvarez and Charlo.
