Johnson, Hamilton shut down Libby in softball play-in

HAMILTON — Mariah Johnson threw 4 2-3 innings and allowed just one hit as Hamilton downed Libby 3-1 in a Western A softball play-in game Saturday.

Thea Jackson put the Lady Broncs (10-11-1) on the board with an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning, bringing home Johnson. 

Weslee MacDonald tied the game up in the second inning for Libby (12-10) with a single to right field that scored Hadleigh Wood. 

Hamilton responded in the bottom of the second with an RBI fielder’s choice from Coco Vachon and never surrendered the lead again. 

Dawsyn Ekin added an insurance run for the Lady Broncs in the fifth with a single to right field. 

Maddi Willis went the distance in the circle for the Lady Loggers, allowing eight hits and three earned runs. She struck out four. 

Stevensville 7, Ronan 0

RONAN — Molly Davids went 2-for-4 and drove in a pair of runs as Stevensville bested Ronan in a Western A play-in. 

Davids put the Yellowjackets ahead in the first inning with a fly out and error from the Maidens (10-9). 

Stevensville (13-9) took control of the game in the fourth inning with four runs coming in during the frame. Davids, Jaidan Oyler and Morgan Yeager driving in one run each on singles and giving the Yellowjackets a 6-0 lead when Ronan finally got out of the inning. 

Yeager went all seven innings for Stevensville, allowing just three hits and fanning nine. 

Kailyn Marengo also went the distance for the Maidens, striking out five.
