“What peace are they talking about? Does the influx of tourists justify ignoring the cries of Kashmiri Pandits, forced into exile for decades? Do they (authorities) believe that shuttered temples, abandoned homes, and unfulfilled promises are no longer visible,” KPSS president

Seeking a

truth and justice commission

, he said, “Justice is not just about punishing the guilty; it is about acknowledging the truth. Without this, any talk of reconciliation and rehabilitation remains a hollow, meaningless exercise.”
He, however, praised the state assembly for discussing the buried and painful issue of Kashmiri Pandits’ rehabilitation. “Unlike many others who merely seek votes by exploiting the agony of our community, these leaders had the courage to bring the matter to the table,” Tickoo said.

He also slammed the old political habit of lebelling their struggle as “anti-national” and dragging Pakistan into the discussion. “This blatant attempt to divert and dilute the issue is not only irresponsible but also an insult to the thousands who suffered, bled, and perished,” Tickoo said.
