JIND: Haryana's
Khap Panchayats
have welcomed the move to impose a ban on songs that glorify gun culture in the state. The Khaps (social clans) have demanded strict action against the obscenity being glamorized in songs by artists nowadays. Artists in Haryana are releasing songs that cannot be heard with family members. The Majra and Kandela Khaps have condemned such artists who glorify gun culture and obscenity in their songs.
Notably the government recently banned three songs by Masoom Sharma, Tuition Badmashi Ka, Khattola-2, and 60 Mukadme. In addition to Masoom, the song Bhari Court Mein Goli Maarange Meri Jaan by Ankit Balian and Bhai Tera Gunda Sai by Narendra Bhagana have also been banned which created a rift among artists in the state. Artists are blaming each other for hatching a conspiracy against particular artists over this action taken by the state government.
Omprakash Kandela, President of
Kandela Khap Panchayat
, said that this move will help in promoting positive thinking among children. However, it is necessary to impose a ban on songs that promote obscenity. Authorities concerned should take action against all artists who are involved to promote negative things in the society, he added.
Majra khap spokesperson Samunder Singh Phour and head of the khap Gurvinder Singh Sandhu stated that the government should not only impose a ban on the songs of one artist but on all artists who release obscene or gun-culture-related songs. No artist should be allowed to make such songs. "Can you listen to these obscene songs with your family at home? Probably not. You should feel ashamed for making such songs that are ruining society. You can write and sing good songs as well. There are artists who are working towards guiding society in the right direction, such as Ramkesh Jivanpur wala and other artists who are keeping Haryana's culture alive through their songs. Making obscene songs does not promote Haryana's culture rather, it harms it, said khap leaders while scolding artists.
Jitendra Chattar, spokesperson of Punia Khap Panchayat, and Mahendra Singh Sahrawat, spokesperson of Sahrawat Khap panchayat, said that a complete ban should be imposed on those who corrupt Haryana's culture with their songs, and legal action should be taken against such individuals. The Khap Panchayats should also decide that those who sing obscene songs should be boycotted, while those who guide society in the right direction should be honored. The government should form an inquiry committee that approves all songs before they are released, and this committee should consist of respected members of society, not just officials. Songs that are inappropriate and harmful should be deleted from platforms like YouTube, they added.
The Khap Panchayats have also demanded that the police administration should require permission for DJ events, with a security deposit of Rs 11,000. If any rules are violated, or if there is gunfire or riots, the security deposit should be confiscated, and legal action should be taken. A ban should also be imposed on indecent songs. The Khap Panchayats have appealed to all artists, saying that they have a big responsibility towards society to provide good education and guidance to the younger generation, so that our culture can be preserved. Henceforth, they should avoid such material which harms society and culture, they said.
