MLB Turns Heads With Pete Crow-Armstrong Post on Wednesday

There was plenty of hype surrounding Pete Crow-Armstrong before he was called up by the Chicago Cubs, and through the first 60 games of the 2025 season, he’s lived up to it.

The 23-year-old outfielder from Sherman Oaks, California, has been electric at the plate and a standout in the field. His speed, instincts and athleticism are major reasons the Cubs are comfortably leading the National League Central.

Whether he's knocking in runs or tracking down fly balls, Crow-Armstrong makes an impact every night. That was especially true on Wednesday in Washington, D.C., when he made a highlight-reel grab in the fifth inning that had social media buzzing.

MLB shared the catch with the caption:

"Pete Crow-Armstrong runs this one down to make the catch."

Fans piled on with praise:

"atp he covers 70% of earth and water only covers 30% cuz wtf," posted someone here

Another fan showed more love to Crow-Armstrong, writing, "If Shohei were pitching this year and hitting like he’s hitting then yes, he should be MVP. But he’s not pitching. PCA is MVP."

This fan is amazed by the catch: "I need to find catch probability data."

"Bro is ELITE," commented another social media user here.

"My MVP," gushed another social media user.

"Never seen Shohei do this," says this fan.

Crow-Armstrong’s spectacular play kept the game scoreless in the fifth. Cubs starter Matthew Boyd was sharp, tossing seven scoreless innings and giving up just two hits. Nationals starter MacKenzie Gore matched him, striking out seven across seven shutout innings of his own.

Crow-Armstrong joined the Cubs in a 2021 trade with the Mets. He made his major league debut in September 2023 but only saw limited action. In 2024, he played 123 games, hitting 10 home runs and driving in 47. Now in his second full season, he's looking like a cornerstone player for Chicago.
