Former Alaska Fairbanks goaltender Nicholas Grabko has signed with the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads, it was announced late last week.
Grabko, a product of Channahon, Ill., has appeared in one game for the Steelheads, collecting the loss while posting a 7.03 GAA and a .759 SP. Prior to making the jump to the ECHL, Grabko posted a record of 5-11-4, a GAA of 2.74 and a .899 SP in 20 appearances with the Nanooks.
Across five seasons in the NCAA with the Nanooks and Bentley, Grabko's numbers included a record of 24-46-6, a 2.99 GAA and a .896 SP across 76 career appearances. Prior to that, Grabko played his junior hockey with the USHL's Green Bay Gamblers and the NAHL's Minot Minotauros.
Although Grabko's first pro appearance was likely not what he wanted, he has shown to be able to handle a difficult workload in the past. Grabko has posted solid numbers across his career and should be able to adapt to the pro level soon enough.
