Manchester United are reportedly interested in Roma defender Evan Ndicka, which could set up a new duel with Tottenham.
The two clubs have been somewhat intertwined as of late. They both endured miserable Premier League campaigns that saw them finish 15th and 17th respectively, but Spurs prevailed when the two rivals collided in the Europa League final, thus escaping with an invaluable Champions League spot.
With the 2024/25 season now behind us, the two sides took their rivalry to the transfer market.
Man United & Spurs following Ndicka

United have been keen to sign Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo, making important progress on this track, but the North Londoners are now close to appointing the Bees manager Thomas Frank as a replacement for the recently sacked Ange Postecoglou, which could prompt an onslaught for the Cameroonian star.
Nevertheless, most sources believe that Man Utd still have the upper hand thanks to Mbeumo’s desire to join them.
According to RMC Sport (via CaughtOffside), a new market duel could erupt between the two clubs, as they’re both keeping tabs on Ndicka.
A closer look at Evan Ndicka
The Ivorian is a youth product of Auxerre who went on to make a name for himself at Eintracht Frankfurt, before joining Roma as a free agent in the summer of 2023.
This season, the 25-year-old showed incredible consistency, starting in all 38 Serie A fixtures for the club, under three different managers (De Rossi, Juric, and Ranieri). He has been lauded as a ‘beast defender’.
The source believes that United have enquired about the services of the Paris native, but it remains to be seen whether they’ll decide to launch an offer or focus on other targets. Ndicka’s contract with the Serie A giants runs until June 2028, and Transfermarkt estimates his value at €32 million.
As a left-footed defender, the Roma star could be the right man to replace the injured Lisandro Martinez, but his arrival at Carrington would likely limit the playing time of the young Ayden Heaven, especially in the absence of European football.
