The Denver Nuggets were able to keep their championship hopes alive on Thursday night as they were able to defeat the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 6 of their second-round matchup.
Of course, the Nuggets entered Thursday’s contest in a must-win situation after falling behind 3-2 in the series after their loss in Oklahoma City in Game 5 on Tuesday night.
With their season on the line, Denver put together one of their best performances of the postseason thus far as they had multiple players outside of Nikola Jokic step up.
Jokic did lead the way for the Nuggets with 29 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists in 41 minutes, but his teammates provided him with a ton of help in Thursday’s victory.
Jamal Murray added 25 points, eight rebounds and seven assists of his own while Christian Braun recorded 23 points, 11 rebounds and five assists.
The Nuggets also got a major boost off the bench thanks to Julian Strawther who recorded a playoff career-high 15 points.
While Denver had multiple players step up, one player that struggled on Thursday night was Aaron Gordon who finished the game with only five points to go along with seven rebounds and seven assists.
Gordon also appeared to aggravate his hamstring injury late in the fourth quarter and interim head coach David Adelman provided an update on him after the game.
“At this point I have no idea…it’s really nice to have two days off…concern level would be high, obviously,” Adelman said about Gordon’s injury.
This was a concerning answer by Adelman and one that could prove costly on Sunday if he is unable to play.
Of course, Gordon dealt with a hamstring injury for most of the season that caused him to miss many games due to recovery from the injury and injury management.
Despite that, Gordon has been able to play every game thus far in the playoffs without an issue until Thursday’s game and his availability for Game 7 on Sunday is now up in the air.
