Our Rescue Expands Partnership with Shakti Samuha to Open New Shelter for Survivors of Sex Trafficking in Nepal

Anti-trafficking Allies and Supporters Invited to Help Fund this Critical Housing and Survivor Care Initiative 

, /PRNewswire/ -- Our Rescue, a global non-governmental organization dedicated to combating sex trafficking and child exploitation, is partnering with Shakti Samuha, an anti-human trafficking organization in Nepal, to open a new shelter that will more than double its current capacity. The facility will provide a safe, supportive environment for up to 34 survivors of sex trafficking, offering food, clothing and shelter as well as counseling, emotional support and trauma-informed care. 

Located near a medical facility and a police station, survivors will have easy access to emergency services when needed. This new initiative is part of a broader effort to disrupt sex trafficking networks and prevent further exploitation in Nepal. 

For over six years, Our Rescue has partnered with Shakti Samuha, which provides comprehensive support for survivors of human trafficking, including shelter, education, vocational training and legal aid. Shakti Samuha also works closely with law enforcement to combat human trafficking in Nepal.

In 2023, Our Rescue supported Shakti Samuha by funding the installation of CCTV cameras along Nepal's open border with India, helping law enforcement identify and assist 712 individuals at risk of trafficking. The success of this project highlighted the need for expanded shelter capacity to meet growing demands for safe housing and comprehensive survivor care.

Our Rescue also has helped Shakti Samuha strengthen its survivor care services and deepen partnerships with law enforcement by funding investigative training.
