Patriots’ Mike Onwenu ‘Feels Good’ About New-Look Offensive Line

The New England Patriots are searching for answers along their offensive line after what has become years of less-than-stellar play.

With Mike Vrabel now at the helm, a complete overhaul is taking place. Vrabel has proven to be serious about addressing the issue of protecting quarterback Drake Maye. With left guard Cole Strange and right guard Mike Onwenu returning, at least five new players are expected to compete for starting positions.

Veteran offensive tackle Morgan Moses and center Garrett Bradbury were brought in through free agency, with three more additions from the 2025 NFL Draft: LSU first-round OT Will Campbell, Georgia third-round C Jarred Wilson, and Missouri seventh-round OT Marcus Bryant.

Onwenu spoke to the media earlier this week about his expectations surrounding the new-look group heading into the season during open team activities (OTAs) this week.

"I feel good about it... We've got a really great room full of potential," Onwenu said. "So, I'm happy about it... We've all been collectively sharing knowledge and information, and making sure we're on the same page to know what we're all talking about."

A projected starting group could look like the following, from the left to the right side of the line: LT Campbell, LG Cole Strange, C Bradbury, RG Onwenu, and RT Moses.

Patriots fans should have some cautious optimism for that group.

Depending on how the new arrivals play, it is potentially a very solid unit. Although Strange is still looking to establish himself after having his fifth-year option declined heading into the upcoming season.
