The Boston Red Sox have gotten off to a disappointing start to the 2025 season. Despite having the organizational talent to compete for a postseason berth, the team is falling in the standings, sitting at 30-34 through the first two months of the season. That start has put Red Sox manager Alex Cora on the hot seat.
During The Greg Hill Show on WEEI, Red Sox Chief Baseball Officer Craig Breslow was asked about whether Cora was on the hot seat or not. Breslow expressed confidence in Cora amid the team's slow start and believes Cora can help turn this season around.
"We're always going to be anchored to what is best for the team, and we have a lot of confidence in Alex as the leader of this group," said Breslow. "We have conversations daily about everything that we can do to get us back on track. That's where our main focus is, and that's where it will remain."
Breslow was then asked a follow-up question of whether he believes Cora has what it takes to help turn the Red Sox's season around. His answer was short and clear: "I do."

Cora has been the center of attention for the Red Sox for a multitude of reasons. The team, since May 24th, has lost eight of their 11 games. In the American League East, the Red Sox sit nine games behind the New York Yankees and are currently four games behind the last Wild Card spot in the American League.
Facing an uphill battle to make the postseason, Cora and the Red Sox need to turn things around quickly. While there has been speculation over whether Cora should be fired or not, Breslow's answer all but shuts down the possibility of Cora getting fired mid-season.
At least, for now. The Red Sox are still within striking distance of the postseason, and a turnaround will right all wrongs for Boston. But, between the losing record and the frustration surrounding the call-up of Roman Anthony, Cora isn't in the good graces of the Red Sox fandom.
While some believe Cora is on the hot seat, Breslow's comments on Cora indicate that they don't plan to make any changes for some time. For now, Cora has the trust of his front office to turn things around, and a slightly cooler seat.
