It's silly season.

The Detroit Red Wings find themselves in the middle of the chaos. That chaos is the day before Trade Deadline Day.

With Thursday night's game against the Utah Hockey Club, the Red Wings will get their first look at Carter Mazur in the big leagues. The young forward has been tearing it up for the Grand Rapids Griffins and will look to bring his skill set to help the Red Wings snap out of their funk.

In addition to yesterday's call-up, the Red Wings also put Christian Fischer on waivers to assign him to the AHL. It appears that things aren't going according to plan on that front.

Elliotte Friedman reported on X that the Columbus Blue Jackets have claimed the rugged forward off of waivers.

Red Wings 2025 Trade Deadline Tracker It's almost Christmas for hockey fans.

This is a blow to the Red Wings, as they were (obviously) hoping to keep him in the organization. However, this is the nature of the business. Sometimes, you take a risk, and nothing happens. Other times, you take a small risk and pay for it.

Fischer is now on his third team in three years. The 27-year-old was drafted by the Arizona Coyotes 32nd overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

He signed a one-year deal with the Red Wings on July 2nd, 2023. That year, Fischer played 79 games, collected 19 points, and played 11:24 a game. This year hasn't gone the way anyone expected. He has played 45 games but only has seven points to his credit. He's also seen his icetime dip to 11:09 per game.

Regardless of where things were trending for Fischer, he will get an opportunity with a new organization to bring all of his talents to help his team.
