After the 3:00 p.m. ET trade deadline comes and goes, oftentimes, a handful of trades filter through.
On Friday, this was the case for now-former Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Conor Timmins and forward Connor Dewar, who have reportedly been traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins, as NHL insider Chris Johnston announced.
As for the return, Johnston says the Leafs are receiving a late-round draft pick.
The deal marks the third trade for the Maple Leafs on Friday, following the additions of center Scott Laughton and defenseman Brandon Carlo.

Specifically, the deal allows the Leafs to earn some salary cap relief to get back above the permitted threshold.
As David Alter of The Hockey News reported, Timmins was seen exiting the ice in a hurry before the Maple Leafs’ practice ended in Denver on Friday afternoon – in preparation for their Saturday matchup with the Colorado Avalanche.
Timmins has two goals, six assists, and eight points in 51 games this season while averaging 16:19 of time on the ice.
The 26-year-old is signed to a two-year, $2.2 million contract and is currently playing in the final season of his deal. The right-handed defenseman has been with the club since November of 2022, appearing in 101 games and recording five goals, 27 assists, and 32 points.
Connor Dewar Also on the Move
As mentioned by Johnston, Dewar is also on the move as part of a package deal to Pittsburgh. The 25-year-old signed a one-year, $1.18 million contract with the Leafs in July after he was traded from the Minnesota Wild on March 8 of the 2023-24 season.

Dewar has played in just 31 games for the Maple Leafs this season, averaging 9:58 of time on the ice and registering three assists. In his career in the blue and white, the former third-round pick had appeared in 54 regular and postseason games, picking up one goal, eight assists, and nine total points.
