The weather has not been kind to us over the last week. Sadly, it will only be getting worse. Today is our one and only chance to experience seasonal-average temperatures. The rug gets pulled out from under us later tonight, with arctic air returning.
Highs today will climb into the 40s under grey skies with soggy conditions. Scattered showers will be possible during the afternoon. Thanks to plummeting temperatures, this rainfall will transition into flurries later tonight.
Totals will be very light and I am not expecting any impacts for the Sunday morning commute.
Cold for Sunday. We will not warm up past freezing with partly sunny skies. Winds will be breezy ensuring the feels-like temperatures will only warm into the teens.
Quiet and cloudy for Monday with temperatures a bit warmer. Highs will be in the upper 30s and lower 40s. This will be the calm before a winter storm is set to arrive on Tuesday.
The Ozarks will be under the gun of significant snowfall. I have high confidence we will see multiple inches of snow on Tuesday. I would not be surprised if some locations in our region pick up over half a foot of snow. Fortunately, this will be an all-snow event, meaning ice and freezing rain are not threats.
After Tuesday’s winter storm, brutal cold will be locked in place. Temperatures for Wednesday will not warm above the single digits. It only gets worse at night as I have forecasted us at -7 degrees. This would be a record low.
We stay cold to finish off the workweek. Warmer temperatures march back for the end of the month.
