Construction company Skanska has landed two new project contracts, one in the US and the other in Finland.
In the US, the company has received a $421m contract from the New Jersey Transit Corporation for the Raritan River Bridge Replacement project in Middlesex County, US.
Work includes demolishing the existing swing bridge's superstructure, as well as building new vertical lift bridge towers, a lift span, two flanking spans, and communication and signal systems.
The project also encompasses overhead catenary work, landside earthwork, and rail system work.
The project is scheduled to start this month and be completed by the third quarter (Q3) of 2029.
The deal will be recorded in the company’s US order bookings for Q1 2025.
Additionally, Skanska has secured a contract to construct a new backup water treatment plant in Turku, Finland, for Turku Region Water, a wholesale water company supplying drinking water to the nine municipalities in the region.
The contract, worth €48m ($51.81m), will be included in the company's Nordic order bookings for Q1 2025.
This construction contract includes the building of the facility, heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems installation, process piping and machinery, as well as all ancillary structures.
The new plant, covering roughly 8,400m², will replace the existing backup facility.
Construction on the project is set to commence in Q2 2025, with completion expected in Q3 2028.
Last month, Skanska secured contracts for two projects, one in the US with Sutter Health, to transform an office building into an ambulatory surgery centre and speciality clinic space.
The second one, in Norway, is a contract to construct a new school in Vesterøya, south of Oslo, on behalf of the Municipality of Sandefjord.
