Student booked for Guj crash was influenced by Danish film: Cops
VADODARA: A
law student
booked for knocking down eight people and killing a woman in a
rash driving accident
in Vadodara on Thursday was seemingly influenced by Danish feature film 'Another Round', police said.
Rakshit Chaurasiya, a fourth-year student at M S University's Faculty of Law, was seen yelling "Another round," "Uncle," "Om Namah Shivay," and a woman's name at the top of his voice after his car rammed three two-wheelers near Amrapali Complex.
Police found a poster of 'Another Round' at his rented accommodation. The film features four friends in their 40s dealing with a midlife crisis. At one point, they come across the concept of a Norwegian philosopher who believed that the human blood alcohol content is naturally 0.05% too low. This idea leads them to experiment with maintaining a constant 0.05% blood alcohol level by drinking during the day.
Chaurasiya, who has been booked for
culpable homicide
not amounting to murder, rash driving, reckless endangerment, and mischief causing loss or damage, along with violations under Motor Vehicles Act, claimed that he was not intoxicated. However, the results of his blood sample, sent for forensic examination, are awaited.
