Maoists kidnapped and murdered two villagers in
Dantewada district
of Chhattisgarh's Bastar on Wednesday night, accusing them of working for police. One of them is a 'shikshadoot' (teacher), who the insurgents claimed had a key role in last year's encounter in Thulthuli in which 38 Maoists were killed.
Victims Baman Kashyap (29) and Anish Ram Poyam (38) were dragged out of their homes by a group of armed Maoists, taken to a nearby forest and strangled. In the morning, villagers found their bodies dumped on the outskirts. A handwritten leaflet left by Maoists accused the duo of working as police informers, and held police officers responsible for their death.
