Temu boosts product safety and compliance with Eurofins partnership

Global e-commerce marketplace Temu has joined forces with Eurofins Consumer Product Testing and Eurofins Assurance to bolster its commitment to product integrity.

Eurofins Consumer Product Testing and Eurofins Assurance provide testing, inspection and certification services.

The partnership augments the transparency of Temu's product safety protocols, elevates standards of quality control and certifies that offerings on the platform adhere to stringent safety and compliance benchmarks.

The collaboration with Eurofins Consumer Product Testing and Eurofins Assurance underscores Temu's proactive approach in reinforcing its quality assurance framework and aiding customers in making well-informed choices.

Eurofins Assurance will perform independent inspections across a variety of merchandise including textiles, clothing, toys, jewellery, patio furnishings and electronic goods.

These evaluations are intended to verify that products listed on Temu are in alignment with applicable safety and quality norms before their distribution to buyers.

They will execute product certification tests such as those required for children's toys, adult apparel, outdoor furniture (GPSR EU EN581-1 physical safety testing), electromagnetic compatibility and restriction of hazardous substances test reports.

In parallel, Eurofins Consumer Product Testing will contribute to refining Temu's vendor integration process by executing essential product certification examinations.

A Temu spokesperson stated: “At Temu, we are dedicated to providing a secure and reliable shopping experience.

“Strengthening our product safety measures is a key priority, and by working with Eurofins Consumer Product Testing and Eurofins Assurance, we are reinforcing our commitment to ensuring that products on our platform meet high safety and compliance standards.”

In April 2025, US President Donald Trump enacted an executive order that eliminates the duty-free status previously extended to low-value packages originating from China and Hong Kong, arguing that this policy has unfairly benefited Chinese online retailers such as Temu and Shein by enabling them to undercut competitors with more aggressive pricing strategies.

Launched in 2022, Temu now operates across more than 90 markets globally.
