Texas WR Isaiah Bond says he will 'for sure' break Xavier Worthy's 40-yard dash record

Let's just say Texas wide receiver Isaiah Bond is confident about the NFL scouting combine.

Speaking with reporters ahead of Saturday's wide receiver workouts, Bond predicted that he would beat the 40-yard dash record of Xavier Worthy, another former Texas wideout, and possibly become the first player in combine history to post a time starting with 4.1:

"I'm going to break the record tomorrow, for sure. I anticipate running 4.20 or possibly, if I'm feeling great, I might run a 4.1."

Worthy broke a seven-year-old record last year, when he posted a 40 time of 4.21, surpassing John Ross III's record of 4.22 set in 2017. That performance vaulted Worthy into a higher tier of receivers in the draft, which led to him being taken 28th overall by the Kansas City Chiefs.

Per ESPN, Bond said his best time in training before the combine was 4.23 seconds:

"I've been running my whole life," Bond said. "I've been one of the fastest my whole life, so I'm going to go out there, and when practice meets preparation, greatness is achieved. So I'm just going to trust my training and put on a show."

Bond transferred to Texas from Alabama last offseason, so he never overlapped with Worthy. He did, however, replace Worthy as the Longhorns' deep threat, and he finished third on the team with 540 receiving yards and five touchdowns in 14 games.

Bond's draft stock is built on speed, so he'll be among the players with the most on the line when the beep sounds in Indianapolis.
