The Chance We Get Jalen Brunson vs. Tyrese Haliburton in a WWE Ring

WWE's best recent example of long-term booking might have happened by complete accident. This week, the Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks will battle in the Eastern Conference Finals in one of basketball's fiercest rivalries. Perhaps Triple H or someone prevalent on the creative team has a League Pass subscription, because it seems like someone saw that matchup coming.

Last year, during a SmackDown at Madison Square Garden, Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton trotted to the ring adjacent to Logan Paul and confronted Knicks franchise cornerstone Jalen Brunson. The tension created a viral moment, which begs the question: could the pair lock up in the squared circle?

Such an encounter would require a grand stage, and this year's SummerSlam happens to be at MetLife Stadium, which is located in the greater New York City area. Haliburton could continue to lean into his heel tendencies, and Brunson would be one of the most over-baby-faced on the card.

As intriguing as this potential scrap might be to many hoops fans, it must wait until the All-Stars retire. On the Raw Recap, Haliburton talked about his desire to get physical in the ring but said, "The league is not going to allow that—they aren't going to let that happen."

Brunson and Haliburton are due over $300M combined on their current NBA deals, and the last thing Adam Silver needs is to have two of the faces of his product get hurt from a botched powerslam or tope suicida.

In a decade, if the WWE product is still hot, I could see either of these guys trying to have a mini-run as a performer, especially with other charismatic athletes interested in making the jump.
