Fiorentina defender Pietro Comuzzo has reportedly snubbed a move to Al-Hilal, becoming the third Serie A player to reject a proposal from the Saudi side.

Fiorentina and Italy defender Comuzzo has rejected the chance to join Simone Inzaghi at Al-Hilal, according to Firenzeviola via TMW.

According to the report, representatives of the Saudi side contacted the defender’s agent after the end of the season, but Comuzzo ended negotiations before they could even start, as he informed his agents that he was unwilling to join Al-Hilal.

Victor Osimhen and Theo Hernandez have made the same decision, although both players received substantial offers from the club before turning them down.

Al-Hilal have recently appointed ex-Inter coach Inzaghi and have opened talks for Roma defender Angelino.

The summer transfer window for Serie A clubs begins in July, but Juventus and Inter, who participate in the Club World Cup, can already register new signings until June 10.

In the meantime, the top teams in Europe are already shaping up for next season, and fans are already searching for the Best Football Betting Sites to make their predictions for 2025-26. Surely, Comuzzo will be in the conversation again as the promising centre-back has also been linked with Milan, Juventus and Napoli.

Despite interest from a few top clubs, Comuzzo’s stay at Fiorentina can’t be ruled out as the 20-year-old recently signed a contract extension until 2030.

Comuzzo collected 44 Fiorentina appearances across all competitions in 2024-25, scoring one goal.

His positive performances at the Stadio Franchi also earned him two Italy call-ups, although he hasn’t yet been given his Azzurri debut.

“Every kid playing football and watching the national team on TV dreams of becoming like them,” Comuzzo said in November, after his first Italy call-up.

“Coming here is the biggest dream I could have fulfilled. I haven’t celebrated. I have done nothing special.

“I’ve received many messages, but the nicest one was from my father. I’ve spoken to many of my ex-coaches, and I’ll always be grateful for their help in reaching the national team.

“The ‘Inno di Mameli’ [Italy’s national anthem] is the best in the world, and it makes you feel the importance and beauty of this country. Singing it on the pitch is the best thing I could imagine.

“I feel at ease with man-marking. I like duels. It’s what I like the most, but I don’t want to limit myself, I want to improve technically and in the build-up. I want to learn from Bastoni and Calafiori and become a complete defender.”
