Florida State guard Ta'Niya Latson, who led all Division I players in scoring this season, is entering the transfer portal but keeping her options open, her representatives at Klutch Sports Group told ESPN's Andraya Carter on Thursday.

Latson averaged 25.2 points per game for the Seminoles, who lost to LSU in the second round of the NCAA tournament last week.

Florida State had been preparing for this reality over the past several months when it became increasingly clear that she could potentially be in line to receive a lucrative NIL deal, a source with knowledge of the situation told ESPN. In addition, FSU's top players, including Makayla Timpson and O'Mariah Gordon, are graduating, and the source said next year could look more like a rebuilding effort.

Still, Latson, one of the most decorated players in school history, has a close relationship with Florida State coach Brooke Wyckoff and could return to play for the program.

Latson had initially committed to Florida State under former coach Sue Semrau in 2021. When Semrau announced her retirement in March 2022 and Wyckoff was elevated to head coach, Latson stuck with her commitment to the Seminoles.

A three-year starter and All-ACC performer, Latson set the single-season Florida State scoring record this year with 731 points.

Latson has made her mark since her arrival in Tallahassee. As a freshman, she set the ACC single-season freshman scoring record with 659 total points, led all freshmen in the country in scoring (21.3 points per game) and won ACC Rookie of the Year. She has twice scored more than 700 points in a season.
