Vitalant, the Nation's Largest Independent Blood Provider, Joins Velico's Blood Center Education Program (BCEP)

, /PRNewswire/ -- Velico is pleased to announce that Vitalant, the nation's largest independent, nonprofit blood services provider, has joined Velico's Blood Center Education Program (BCEP) to explore the potential integration of spray dried plasma production into its blood center component operations.
Through the BCEP initiative, Vitalant will gain hands on experience with Velico's FrontlineODP™ Spray Dried Plasma System, a cutting-edge technology designed to empower regional blood centers with the capability to produce and distribute spray dried plasma. This innovative solution is aimed at providing life-saving plasma for transfusion at the point of injury, benefiting patients in emergency situations, battlefield environments, hospitals, and other austere settings where traditional blood products are either unavailable or impractical.
Velico's proprietary spray drying process produces a powdered plasma product that is stable at room temperature, easily reconstituted with sterile water, and transfusion ready within approximately 2.5 minutes.
