Warriner drives in 5 as Pack splits Helena games

HELENA — Olivia Warriner homered and drove in five runs and combined with Olivia Gibbons on a two-hitter as Glacier thumped the Capital Bruins 17-0 Saturday, earning a split with the Helena softball programs.  

The win came on the heels of a 4-0 loss to Helena High behind a one-hitter from Bengals pitcher Faith Howard — the first of two one-hitters she threw Friday.

Warriner’s two-run home run started a five-run first inning for the Wolfpack; Karley Allen had an RBI single and Aubree Gerber hit a sacrifice fly in the frame. 

Warriner added another RBI singles in the second, third and fourth innings. She also took over in the circle from Gibbons in the fourth inning, retiring the Bruins (7-9) in order. The game ended there under the run rule. 

Gibbons allowed two hits and struck out two in her three innings and helped her cause with three hits, including a double, with two runs scored and one driven in.  

Nakiah Persinger scored three times for Glacier (14-3 overall, 9-3 in the Western AA), as did Khirsten Terrell.

Howard allowed just a single and a walk to Taylor Vivian for the first-place Bengals. She struck out 17 of the 24 batters she faced. 

Gibbons started in the circle, allowing six hits and three runs in four innings, with two strikeouts. Warriner threw two innings, allowing two hits, a walk and a run. She fanned three.
