AEye, a software company, has completed the initial high-volume production of its Apollo LiDAR sensors at Lite-On Technology's (LITEON) manufacturing line in Taipei, Taiwan.

Apollo, known for its exceptional one-kilometre detection range at highway speeds, is set to redefine the standards of automotive safety and performance of autonomous transportation.

AEye CEO Matt Fisch said: “We recently announced that we were working with our automotive Tier 1 manufacturing partner, LITEON, to ramp up the Apollo production line. Today, I am pleased to share that the line is now operational with the first customer-ready units completed.

"Automotive OEMs demand the highest-level product quality and consistency that can only be delivered at scale by seasoned automotive suppliers. Thanks to our partnership with LITEON, we are able to deliver Apollo sensors to OEMs with the utmost confidence.”

LITEON’s distribution of Apollo units marks a milestone in the partnership with AEye, aligning with AEye's strategy of maintaining a low-capital business structure.

Apollo, the inaugural offering from AEye's 4Sight Flex series of advanced LiDAR sensors, is designed to offer superior range and resolution. It has a wavelength of 1550nm.

With the flexibility to be mounted behind the windshield, on the roof, or within the grille, the Apollo LiDAR sensor allows OEMs to incorporate essential safety elements.

AEye Apollo software-defined LiDAR solution was introduced in March 2024. It is the first product in the company’s 4Sight Flex next-generation family of LiDAR sensors.

The technology supports up to 120° horizontal and 30° vertical field of view.

LITEON Technology, started in 1975, has established a formidable presence in the global market through its expertise in opto-electronics and power management.

"AEye ramps up Apollo LiDAR production line with LITEON" was originally created and published by Just Auto, a GlobalData owned brand.
