Lululemon's new spring drop is all about breathable tanks and tees, sweat-wicking rain jackets, and a backpack version of the iconic Everywhere bag.
Lululemon's spring arrivals are here and I want them all — you will, too. (Lululemon)
I have the kind of curvy figure that can be tricky to dress. But I've learned through trial and error what looks good, like boxy crop tops with leggings to accentuate my waist and stretchy maxi dresses with forgiving slits. As luck would have it, my favorite activewear brand, Lululemon, has all of the above in its new spring collection, which they've been unveiling little by little in mini drops for the past few weeks. Window shopping Lulu's newest looks has been an exercise in restraint because I want everything.
As always, their status-symbol-worthy pieces are chic, comfy and built to last. That almost goes without saying when you're talking about Lululemon. This season, though, the brand has gone the extra mile — think comfort factors like lightweight construction, breathability and super-stretch, plus convenient details such as hidden pockets and stay-put waistbands. Beyond workout gear, they've debuted other kinds of functional fashion, like sweat-wicking rain jackets and a backpack version of the iconic Everywhere bag.
Lululemon even debuted a new color, Washed Denim, which they've incorporated into tops, bottoms, dresses, and accessories for women and men. You can even score a new pair of Align leggings (we recently named them the best leggings with pockets!) in the soft, versatile hue. Keep scrolling to see my top picks for spring starting at just $34.
Think of these as a pair of jeans for your workout wardrobe. Lululemon's famous Align leggings, with their buttery soft Nulu fabric, are now available in Washed Denim, the brand's newest color. And just like your favorite jeans, you'll keep coming back to these again and again.
This particular pair has a 25-inch hem that hits right above the ankle and a pair of pockets on the sides — always a plus. There's also a hidden pocket inside the waistband so you won't lose your keys or your cash. Editor-in-chief Laura Kenney didn't get the whole Lululemon obsession until she bought a pair. "Now I understand and actually feel confident leaving the house in leggings," she said. "The high-waisted cut helps my waist looked cinched, and the fabric, seams and cut work together to visually sculpt and whittle your leg:"
There have been so many dupes of Lululemon's velvety sweatshirts, like this often-imitated Scuba half-zip hoodie, which now comes in another color that's new to Lulu: Red Glow. I always say, red is a neutral, but I'm usually talking about shoes. I can't wait to add this pop of color to my athleisure collection now.
The Scuba is beloved for its super soft feel, its breathable fabric and the way it hits right at the waist — a more slimming hem than the kind that goes past your hips, in my experience.
This cropped tee is the kind of piece that's made for movement. Not only does it have a loose fit, it's also got open-hole mesh to keep air flowing, four-way stretch — as much great activewear does — and minimal seams so it won't chafe your skin.
I love to pair crop tops like this with high-waisted leggings and pants for a flattering silhouette. The plum shade is especially cute, or go for a neutral black or white.
If you don't have a pair of running shorts in your rotation, you're missing out. Biker shorts are great, but they don't compare to the airiness of a pair of shorts like these, which have a roomy fit and a high-rise waist.
This particular pair is designed with a waistband that won't ride up, a sweat-wicking liner to keep you dry and comfy, and quick-drying fabric for those super swampy summer days — because you know they're coming.
The big bragging point of this tank top is that it feels weightless, and really, don't want we all want to feel that kind of restriction-free comfort? It's the next best thing to ripping our bras off at the end of the day!
This racerback tank top is stretchy, sweat-wicking and, of course, lightweight. It's perfect for exercise and everyday wear, and in Hawaiian Blue, it's eye candy, too.
Not a pickle-baller? Not a problem. It's even okay if you don't play tennis. This athletic dress with built-in shorts and a shelf bra is a stretchy, supportive one-piece that's designed for yoga but is also great for jogging, hiking or hanging out.
It's made of a cozy, high-performance fabric called SmoothCover — kind of a combo of the brand's Nulu and Luxtreme fabrics. It's adorable in light ivory and comes in black, too.
When you're looking for a great spring-to-summer maxi dress, you might not immediately think of an athletic brand like Lululemon, but let this stretchy staple change your mind.
It's the absolute perfect put-it-on-and-go look for basically anything. The textured fabric is sweat-wicking, quick-drying and feels like a second skin. And that pleat on the side makes it easier to move in and more adaptable to your shape.
A great rain jacket is an essential piece of outerwear. This streamlined one fits the bill with its breathable upper that manages to still be completely wind- and waterproof.
The inner lining is sweat-wicking, too, so it's perfect for warmer temperatures and sun showers. It comes in a handful of pretty neutrals, like this muted navy.
This quilted puffer bag is like the packable down jacket of accessories — a functional necessity that's also style-forward. This one is a smaller version of an existing design by the brand and with a lighter fill.
Getting stuck in surprise rain storms isn't a catastrophe with this waterproof bag that zips closed. And, like all great totes, it has little compartments inside for organization.
Let's be real: Flip-flops have come a long way from their blister-inducing roots. This pair has soft fabric lining its straps and toe posts, plus other comfort features like a dual-density midsole for comfort and support.
The sandals come in black or white, but how could you not be smitten with them in Lulu's new Red Glow hue? I'm adding these to my cart ASAP.
Lululemon's famous Everywhere belt bag is reborn as a backpack and I'm loving it in this soft lavender (it also comes in red and black). The minimalist carryall has a padded pocket for your laptop so you can truly take it everywhere without being disconnected. Its spacious main interior fits everything else.
Outside, you'll find side pockets for your smaller items and padded straps to keep you comfortable and reduce strain.
I'm a big advocate of little somethings like this card pouch that holds credit cards, identification and cash — everything you need for a quick run to the store or to barre class. It's water-repellent, too, so everything will stay safe and dry.
Hook the pouch to your keys or just hook it on your finger and go. This blue/gray color matches everything or choose from fun hues like pink, green and white polka dot.
