JAMMU: Army retaliated to “unprovoked” firing Sunday from Pakistani troops along the LoC in
Gulpur sector
of J&K’s
Poonch
district.
“A brief exchange of fire took place. Our troops effectively retaliated. There was no damage on our side,” an official source said.
The skirmishes come two days after an army jawan was injured in a sniper shot suspected to have been fired from across the border in Keri area of Jammu’s Akhnoor sector. Another jawan was wounded in similar firing in Rajouri’s Nowshera sector on February 10.
India and Pakistan
have a 2021 agreement on “strict observance” of ceasefire.
