, following his strong opposition to the arrival of three such aircraft earlier this month.
"I strongly opposed it (the landing of US planes carrying deportees) in Amritsar," Mann told reporters in Sardulgarh. "But now I feel that the impact of that opposition will be that if another plane comes, it will at least not land in Amritsar or in Punjab."
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader had previously criticized the BJP-led central government for allowing US military planes carrying deported Indian nationals to land in Punjab. He accused the Centre of attempting to defame the state and called for alternative landing sites, such as Delhi, instead of making Amritsar a "deport centre."
The three aircraft, which arrived on February 5, 15, and 16, carried illegal Indian immigrants from Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, and other states. Their return coincides with a crackdown on undocumented immigrants under former US President Donald Trump’s policies.

On the issue of rehabilitating deportees, Mann assured that his government would support them. "We will give them opportunities. If any of them clear exams for posts like patwari, deputy superintendent of police, or sub-divisional officer, they will be given jobs. We will not let them go into depression," he said.
