PATNA:
Syed Ruknuddin Ahmad
, an RJD MLA from Baisi in Bihar's Purnia district, has been booked for kidnapping a local JD(U) functionary, thrashing him and forcing him to drink urine.
Rehan Fazal, now in hospital with fractures, has told policehe was allegedly abducted by the MLA's henchmen Wednesday night and taken to his residence, where he was "badly assaulted and forced to drink urine".
Rehan has alleged he was targeted for having exposed wrongdoings by the MLA, including alleged land grab and fake NREGA job cards.
"The MLA's men made an abortive attempt to stab me," Rehan said. Ahmad is an AIMIM turncoat who joined Lalu Prasad's RJD in 2022. The MLA could not be contacted for comment on the allegations. Police said he had been booked along with his brother and four others.
The allegations came barely a day after the RJD chief spokesperson Shakti Singh Yadav was caught on camera allegedly having liquor in dry Bihar. The video, uploaded on the state BJP's official X handle, accused the RJD neta of mocking the liquor ban in force for nine years.
On Thursday, Lalu Prasad's estranged brother-in-law and former MP Subhash Yadav alleged that the former CM played key roles in negotiations with criminals to strike deals in corruption and kidnapping cases when he and his wife Rabri Devi were in office. Subhash made the allegations ahead of assembly elections due this year. CM Nitish Kumar's JD(U) and ally BJP seized on Subhash's remarks to say it reinforced the tag of RJD's "
jungle raj
" in Bihar.
