, /PRNewswire/ -- Select Medical today announced it signed clinical affiliation agreements with five higher education universities and colleges nationwide. Under the agreements, the company will provide clinical rotation sites to nursing students enrolled in accredited nursing programs at those academic institutions. Select Medical has a network of more than 140 specialty hospitals across the U.S.
The affiliations are part of the company's Partners in Learning & Investing in Future Talent (uPLIFT) Program created to provide access for aspiring nurses to obtain frontline experience caring for critical illness recovery and inpatient rehabilitation patients.
Students enrolled in pre-licensure nursing programs at the following institutions, who are in good academic standing, will be eligible to enter the Select Medical uPLIFT clinical rotation program:
- Chamberlain University
- Education Affiliates (Fortis Colleges/Institutes, Denver College of Nursing, St. Paul's School of Nursing)
- Herzing University
- Nightingale College
- Rasmussen University
"We are thrilled to partner with such respected universities and colleges and the exceptional administrators and faculty leading their nursing programs," said David S. Chernow, chief executive officer at Select Medical. "Together, we will develop future clinicians to meet the rising demands of specialty health care. The academic rigors of these institutions combined with hands-on clinical rotations available at Select Medical hospitals will cultivate skilled nurses who are well-prepared to care for the country's increasingly complex patient population."
More than 12,000 students graduate each year from the five national partner pre-licensure nursing programs. The innovative uPLIFT program will create pathways to clinical rotation opportunities to support student success, actively contributing to preparing students to provide high quality care to patients in post-acute care hospital settings.
"Nightingale College is thrilled to partner with Select Medical to expand clinical rotation opportunities for nursing students nationwide, said Jonathan Tanner, chief growth officer at Nightingale Education Group. "Select Medical's forward-thinking approach to healthcare and commitment to education align with Nightingale's mission to prepare the next generation of nurses. This collaboration will provide invaluable hands-on experience, ensuring students graduate with the relevant skills needed to deliver exceptional patient care with confidence, competence, and compassion."
"Providing nursing students with clinical rotations across our hospital network is not just an opportunity to learn from the best clinicians in post-acute care, it's a gateway to building the real-world skills, confidence and connections that are essential for success in their future careers," said Gloria Skinner, senior vice president of clinical operations of specialty hospitals at Select Medical.
