NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party state president
Virendraa Sachdeva
on Saturday hinted at rolling out the
Mahila Samriddhi Yojna
in Delhi on women's day.
When asked about the implementation of the scheme under which Rs 2,500 per month is to be given to eligible women in Delhi, Sachdeva said that things will become clear soon.
"March 8 is women's day, and I feel that every day in India should be celebrated as women's day," Sachdeva said.
"Our government is ready to work for every section and take them along with it. And let the date of March 8 come, things will become clear soon," he added.
Sachdeva's reaction came days after Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta said that the AAP government had left the 'empty public exchequer' before the BJP took over.
Despite the lack of funds, she assured that the BJP would implement the schemes promised to the public, including the Rs 2,500 monthly scheme for women.
"The condition which the (previous) government has left for us... when we sat with officers to review the financial status of the current government, we found that the government exchequer was empty," Gupta said.
She added that several rounds of meetings had been held with officials over the implementation of the Mahila Samriddhi Yojna
During the run up to the assembly elections in Delhi, BJP had assured women that the decision to transfer Rs 2500 in their bank accounts will be taken in the first cabinet meeting if the party comes to power.
"I would ask all the women in Delhi to link their phone number with their bank account so that they could receive the message that money has been credited to their account after the formation of the BJP government here. In the first cabinet of the BJP government, the decision to credit Rs 2,500 in the bank accounts of the women here will be clear.," Prime Minister Narendra Modi had asserted during the election campaign.
