Travis Hunter roasts Shedeur Sanders over being broke from NFL Draft slide

Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders will be remembered for their years together at Jackson State and Colorado. The two former All-Americans were the latest players to have their respective numbers retired by CU. 

They're friends away from football, and both are transitioning into the NFL. While Hunter won the Heisman Trophy and made the case as the best two-way player in college football history, Sanders set or tied over 100 school records during his time with the Buffs. 

Hunter was the No. 2 overall pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars, getting a huge rookie contract in his home state. While Sanders wasn't as fortunate. The "Grown" QB was thought to be a first-round lock but ended up as a Day 3 pick for the Cleveland Browns at No. 144 overall in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. 

The two playmakers reunited at a Panini America autograph signing recently. They both looked great at their respective rookies minicamps, but Hunter decided to give his former QB "The business" at the event. He had jokes about Sanders’ financial situation after the draft slide, saying “you ain’t got no money.” 

While that's furthest from the truth with a huge NIL deal at Colorado and trust fund, as joked about by his father, Deion Sanders, it's still funny. Hunter is projected to have a 4-year contract worth $46.6, while Sanders, over the same time, is projected to make only $4.6 million. Essentially, Shedeur fumbled a $40 million bag by taking a tumble. 

However, Sanders is already making up ground in the endorsement game. Delta Airlines, Gatorade, and Nike are all working with the Browns QB. Hunter reclaimed his college No. 12 and Sanders gave up No. 2 to pay homage to his mentor Tom Brady with Hunter's original No. 12. 

“We definitely the 12’s right now," Sanders noted. 

Hunter looks to make history as the first full-time two-way player in the NFL's modern era. There will be make records in sight for "Saucy-T" this year.
